One of the great things about photographing weddings is every Saturday I get a sneak peak into people’s Psyche. I get to see what makes poeple tick, what is there favorite things, and how it all comes together on one of the most important days of their lives. It always amazes me how different people can be, even with a similar concept. Kelly and Michael were that way. Vintage has been the theme of 2012, but I have to say, I think Kelly pulled this Southern party off in such ana amazing way. The day based around brunch, which Kelly said was her favorite meal, so she knew her wedding had to encompass all that yumminess. And of course, the best brinch in town had to be a part- Biscotti’s. From the perfect sunny sunflowers, which were the perfect compliment to Kelly’s blooming personality, to the broken china place settings, this wedding was exactly how I pictured the perfect lawn party.
Kelly and Michael were a wonderful couple to work with- loving, affectionate and blissfully happy. As they can attest to, the day flies by, and the little moments with the two of them were the perfect touch to an amazing day.
Thank you guys for allowing Pure Sugar to be a part of your love story. I hope that each day is as perfect and loving as this one!

Loved Kelly’s Bouquet from Kelley’s Bloom Room it was set off so perfectly against the lace of the dress.
The brown and yellow is so yummy, and so fall! The touch of pink keeps the romance going…
Kelly did a regular book on Southern Garndening as her guest book- I loved it!
Micheal wore a fabulous Southen suit- down to the bow tie and vest.
The light that came into the preservation hall from above was magical.
How yummy is that diamond? Yes please, I’ll take 2!
How did you two meet?
Michael and I met at the University of Florida. We were both landscape architecture majors and had many classes together. We became fast friends for about a year and started dating after that for another 3.5 years.
How did he propose?
Michael proposed January 1, 2012. We went for a leisurely walk around my neighborhood to a park on the river overlooking Downtown Jacksonville. It was so natural and so us, we like to go for long walks and talk. He had it timed that around sunset he got down on his knee and asked for me to marry him. It was a complete surprise!
How did you choose your theme? Flowers? and overall wedding design?
I love brunch food which determined the early morning time of the wedding. I also have been in love with San Marco Preservation Hall since I was a little girl. Michael and I enjoy antiquing and my style has always been shabby chic. We wanted the wedding to reflect our casual and fun personalities and our love of the outdoors. We kept it small not only for the venue but wanted to focus on sharing this special day with our closest family and friends.
What was the best part of your wedding day?
Turning around and being introduced as Mr. & Mrs. Michael Cain for the first time and seeing the the support of all of our family and friends there in the hall.
What do you want to always remember from your wedding day?
The beautiful ceremony and challenges presented to us from Bro. Andy and knowing Michael and I will be working with each other on our marriage forever, together.
“IF I only I knew!” what is one piece of advise you would give to brides planning their wedding day?
Keep it simple! If there is no coordinator designate a friend and work closely with them way in advance of helping you get through everything in a timely manner on your day. Don’t designate more than 1 person!
And where are you going on your honeymoon?
Michael & I are enjoying the Great Smokey Mountains, hiking and bike riding.
I am interested in getting married at this same venue and I love Kelly’s style. Is there any way I could contact her and ask her some behind the scenes questions? Like where did she get those beautiful brown chairs?
